A 49-year-old Sydney, N.S., man will be charged with manslaughter in the death of a 51-year-old man, say Cape Breton Regional Police.

In a news release issued late Saturday, police say they responded late Friday to a report of an unconscious male near the intersection of Duke and State streets in Sydney.

The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics, but later died there.

The release does not say where the victim is from or whether the two men knew each other, or detail the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police say the accused was arrested Saturday morning.

He will appear in court Monday morning to answer to the manslaughter charge.
