Man charged with attempted murder after weekend stabbing in Beechville

A 28-year old man from Beechville, N.S., has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing on the weekend. Police say a 35-year-old man from nearby Timberlea was stabbed multiple times in the torso in the incident.

A 28-year old man from Beechville, N.S., has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing on the weekend.

Police say a 35-year-old man from Timberlea, N.S., was stabbed multiple times in the torso during the incident.

RCMP were called to a home on Hamilton Street in Beechville early Sunday to respond to a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from serious injuries.

Police say the suspect and the victim knew one another. They say the two had been involved in an altercation inside the home.

"During this altercation, one person presented a knife and stabbed another person multiple times in the torso," police say in a news release on Monday.

Police say they located the suspect in the woods about half an hour after responding to the scene. He was arrested without incident.

The suspect has also been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The suspect was scheduled to appear in provincial court in Halifax on Monday.
