Herring Cove Needs Convenience held up by armed suspects: police
Gun, crowbar-wielding suspects forced clerk around during Needs robbery, say police
Halifax Regional Police say two suspects forced a female clerk around the store when they tried to rob the Needs convenience store at the corner of Herring Cove Road and Withrod Drive early Wednesday morning.
Police say two armed suspects entered the store carrying a wood-handled handgun and crowbar around 5 a.m., demanding cash and cigarettes.
During the robbery, police say the suspects grabbed the lone female clerk and forced her around in an effort to open the store's safe. The woman was not injured, and the safe remained unopened.
The suspects are described as white males with slim builds, wearing hoodies and masks. One suspect was wearing a reflective traffic vest.
Police say they drove away up Withrod Drive in a silver, mid-size car with rust on the bottom of the doors.
Police say the men knocked over the store's video surveillance system, and officers are trying to see if the video is salvageable during the investigation.
This is the second Needs Convenience store that's been robbed over the last two days.
