The Convergys call centre in New Glasgow is closing sooner than planned.
When the company first announced it was closing this location, it picked September 2014 as the final month of operations, a date that was later pushed back to December 2015.
On Thursday, a Convergys spokesperson confirmed it is closing August 28.
“At this juncture, I would say that this is a final decision,” said Brooke Beiting.
The call centre employs 194 full-time employees.
Beiting says that employees in good standing are encouraged to apply to other Convergys locations. She says that employee-assistance programs will be offered to staff-level employees.
Convergys has been in New Glasgow since 2001.
