Company says it secured additional business

Convergys says it has secured enough new contracts to keep its New Glasgow, N.S., call centre open.

It was set to close later this month, throwing 300 people out of work.

"We have an exceptional and talented workforce in New Glasgow. Their work has played a key role in securing the additional business. We are proud to remain an active member of the New Glasgow business community," the call-centre company said in a statement.

Convergys has been in New Glasgow since 2001.

The company closed its Dartmouth call centre in 2013, affecting more than 130 employees. It closed its Cornwallis centre in 2010.
