RCMP investigates fatal fire at Digby apartment house

An investigation has begun into a fatal fire at an apartment building in Digby, N.S., on Friday morning.

First responders called to building on Birch Street at 8 a.m.

Nova Scotia RCMP say an investigation has begun into a fatal apartment fire in Digby, N.S., on Friday morning.

According to a news release, first responders were called at 8 a.m. to a Birch Street home that was known to contain several apartments.

While multiple people in the building were able to make it out safely, police say firefighters found a body.

Police did not provide any details about the person who was found dead.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner are assisting in the investigation, police say.
