Whitehorse thieves make off with Habitat For Humanity cash box
RCMP seek 2 suspects who fled in stolen truck and abandoned it near greenbelt
Whitehorse RCMP have released photos of one of the suspects who made off with a Habitat For Humanity cash box on Friday afternoon.
Police say a man grabbed the cash box, containing about $500, from a Habitat For Humanity ticket table set up at Canadian Tire. He then ran out of the store into a waiting vehicle.
When RCMP found the vehicle on Sumanik Drive near Valleyview, the two suspects abandoned the truck and ran into the greenbelt. Police were unable to find them.
The truck, a green 1994 Ford Ranger, had been reported stolen two weeks earlier in Dawson City.
Police are still investigating and appealing to the public for help.
The suspects are described as a man and a woman, both Caucasian in appearance and approximately 20 years old. The man was slender with black hair and black clothes.
The woman had a black ponytail and was wearing an orange tank top.
Anyone with information is asked to call Whitehorse RCMP at (867) 667‐5555.
