Staff at Whitehorse's Christ the King Elementary School prepping for back-to-school were again able to access their workplace on Friday, after it was cleaned up from a recent break-in.

Culprits who broke into the school on Nisutlin Drive in Riverdale on Aug. 15 stole a Samsung monitor and discharged several fire extinguishers. They damaged paint and drywall and left broken glass.

A statement issued by the Yukon Department of Education said a property management team has been working to repair the damage and clean the school.

Whitehorse RCMP are investigating.

Students at the school resume classes on Sept. 1.
