Stand off near North Mart in Iqaluit ends peacefully

RCMP in Iqaluit say a 21-year old man is now in custody following a more-than-three-hour-long stand off near the North Mart in the city.
Police say they got a call at about 6:15 a.m. Saturday morning regarding a distraught man with a firearm in a home.
RCMP Emergency Response Team and crisis negotiators were deployed, and officials blocked off the road in the 700 block.
RCMP reached an agreement with the man after more than three hours. He surrendered and is now in custody.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
