3 people acclaimed to N.W.T. Legislative Assembly, 53 others officially enter race

N.W.T. residents will vote for a new territorial government on Nov. 14. 

The nomination period officially closed Friday at 2 p.m., with anyone wishing to withdraw their candidacy having until 5 p.m. 

The Legislative Assembly is made up of 19 members, three of which are already acclaimed: Caroline Wawzonek in Yellowknife South; Caitlin Cleveland in Kam Lake, and Jane Weyallon Armstrong in Monfwi. 

Once elected, the members will vote for a premier, six other cabinet members, and a Speaker. The remaining MLAs become regular members.
