An Iqaluit man who failed to return from a hunting trip on Saturday is presumed to have fallen through ice and drowned, say RCMP.

Iqaluit Search and Rescue was alerted around 11 p.m. Saturday when the 68-year-old man was late returning from hunting, a news release says.

Search and Rescue volunteers found the man's belongings Sunday at around 1 p.m. about 30 km south of Iqaluit on Frobisher Bay.

RCMP say evidence at the scene led investigators to believe the man fell through the ice, and he is presumed drowned.
