$1,500 worth of recyclables stolen from NWT SPCA
NWT SPCA president Nicole Spencer says the donated cans and bottles were stolen over the weekend from a private lot in the Kam Lake area.
About $1,500 worth of recyclable bottles and aluminum cans were stolen from the NWT SPCA in Yellowknife over the weekend.
NWT SPCA president Nicole Spencer says the donated cans and bottles were being stored at a private lot in the Kam Lake area.
"It's just the same as if someone stole something from our shelter," she said. "The recycling was left over from last year that people donated to us for us to raise money to help run the shelter."
Every year, the SPCA holds a recycling drive to raise money for its animal shelter in Yellowknife. Last year it raised more than $14,000.
The SPCA is asking anyone with information about the theft to contact the RCMP.
