On Worlds Away, multi-instrumentalist Dave Panting works with two generations of Newfoundland and Labrador musicians to create an album full of musical sounds from around the world.

Panting, who is best known for his work with Figgy Duff and Rawlins' Cross, worked with long-time collaborators such as his brother Geoff Panting, Rawlins' Cross bandmate Ian Mckinnon, and well known traditional musicians Gerry Strong and Gayle Tapper.

He also brought younger musicians including  Emilia Bartellas and Aaron Collis of the Dardanelles, and percussionist Simon Miminis into the mix.

"I joke that I live vicariously through the younger people's energy," said Panting.

"And [they bring] new influences, too, that I might not necessarily even think of."

Panting's compositions on Worlds Away are inspired by traditional Newfoundland and Labrador music, and by music from other cultures.
