A hockey player from Newfoundland and Labrador will now be joining an original six franchise in the NHL.

A hockey player from Newfoundland and Labrador will now be joining an original six franchise in the NHL.

Luke Adam of St. John's was signed to the New York Rangers on Friday, after being with the Columbus Blue Jackets since December.

New York announced the acquisition of Adam Friday afternoon through social media.

The 25-year-old has previously played with the Buffalo Sabres, as well as with the Portland Pirates and Rochester Americans in the AHL and prior to that with the now defunct St. John's Fog Devils in the QMJHL.
