Kippens native Katarina Roxon had a good weekend at the Can Am International Swimming Championships in Edmonton.

Roxon won five of her seven events at the event, setting four personal best times and two national records.

Roxon said she had the feeling of butterflies in her stomach before racing.

"Last December I went to the meet and I just bombed it all," she said. "So, coming into this meet I was a little nervous but I came out and I was so happy with how I did."

The para-swimmer from Kippens will spend the holiday season in California doing intensive training.

It's the first of three high level swimming camps she will take part in before the Pan Am Games next summer.

Roxon says she has high hopes for a top three finish.

"I need to train as much as I can to be on the top of the competition so that when the Pan American Games come I can be on top of the podium," she said.

Roxon will train in Florida and Spain next year, leading up the Pan Am Games in Toronto in July.
