Julyuary hits N.L. with a vengeance, but province takes it in stride

As CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon said on Monday: "July of 2015 is slowly and steadily inching closer to becoming one for the record books … for all the wrong reasons."

Sigh.

If you're an optimist, you can thank your lucky stars that we're all in this together — from Nain, where it's currently hovering around the 4 C mark, to Stephenville, where residents are enjoying a much warmer 13 C.

The temperature is cold, but tempers are hot as July passes Newfoundland and Labrador by with very few summer-like days. Don't shoot the messenger!

The above meme, which spread quickly on social media on Tuesday, puts CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon in the place of John Crosbie, then the federal fisheries minister, during an infamous confrontation with fishermen on the eve of the 1992 cod moratorium. Crosbie told them he "didn't take the fish out of the goddamn water."

Meanwhile, a St. John's car dealer picked up on the Christmas spirit in the air.

Even the whales are over this weather.

You should always search for the silver lining, like these guys.

Or not.

It's all bad enough, but Walmart's selection of back to school supplies may just tip us over the edge. Summer is almost over before it even began. August to the rescue!
