'I'm so glad it came along,' says recitationist Dave Paddon
Paddon's new album of recitations is called Not a Word of a Lie, Too! (Alturrnative Facts)
Dave Paddon never figured he'd write and perform humorous recitations.
"I never, ever anticipated this, but I'm so glad it came along," said Paddon, who started writing verses about a decade ago, while he was a long-haul commercial airline pilot.
Since then, he has released several recordings and a children's book, and he is a sought-after performer at storytelling events all over North America.
Paddon's latest recording, Not a Word of a Lie Too! (Alturrnative Facts), contains recitations inspired by his time growing up in Labrador, from current events, and from everyday life.
Paddon, however, is cagey on whether the outlandish scenarios in his recitations actually happened.
"I sort of came up with that expression, 'alturrnative facts,' and I've noticed that some individuals south of the border have decided to use that as well," he quipped.
