Corner Brook cat shed demolished

Crews on Friday tore down a shed next to a Corner Brook house that had been filled to the rafters with cats, just days after authorities seized the animals.

The cats were discovered last week by a neighbour after a door accidentally blew open and the animals escaped.

The shed was full of trash and cat waste, indicating that the animals had been living in poor conditions.

The shed had been deemed to be an immediate health risk by city officials and was demolished by environmental consultants.

A small bungalow remains on the property. The City of Corner Brook and the provincial government are unsure about what will happen to the structure. About 30 of the cats that had been removed from the property had to be put down.
