Arrest made after 2nd George Street stabbing

For the second time in a week, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a stabbing on George Street in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has a person in custody following a stabbing incident on George Street in St. John's.

For the second time in a week, the RNC is investigating a stabbing in the city's downtown.

RNC officers responded to the report around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said the male victim, 24, was taken to the Health Sciences Centre with injuries consistent with a stabbing, but was released with non-life threatening injuries.

The accused male, 20, is from outside the province.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

According to police, the CID and the Forensics Unit are investigating the incident.

Last weekend, a 36-year-old man was stabbed in front of a George Street nightclub. 

Police arrested and charged Jake Long, 18, in connection with that incident.
