A Toronto Raptors fan who ate 17-year-old cereal on a bet got a shout-out from the man on the box: Vince Carter.

Carter was on NBATV's The Starters, judging and scoring various sports news and videos.

He was presented with the story of Andy Pyne, who ate a bowl of ancient Cocoa Frosted Flakes with Carter on the front during CBC's St. John's Morning Show last week after the Raptors made it to the franchise's first-ever Eastern Conference Finals.

"He gets a 10 for bravery," Carter said.

Carter was already familiar with Pyne's story and gave him top marks for actually eating the cereal — and surviving.

"And he's still living? Not in the hospital or anything like that? I salute you, sir."

Pyne, obviously, was thrilled.
