Amber Chippett, 18, killed in Buchans Highway crash

18-year-old Amber Chippett has been identified as the young woman killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Buchans Highway Friday.

18-year-old Amber Chippett has been identified as the young woman killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Buchans Highway Friday. 

Chippett, who's from Buchans Junction, was driving with two friends at the time of the accident, shortly after 2:15 p.m. 

Chippett was transported to Grand Falls-Windsor where police said she died as a result of her injuries.

The two passengers were taken to hospital in Buchans and were later released with minor injuries.

Chippett, a recent high school graduate, is being remembered as a softball and hockey player who excelled at public speaking. 

RCMP have yet to comment on the cause of the collision.
