City councillor Réal Leclerc says he feels uncomfortable after UPAC raids
Four city councillors from Terrebonne who were elected alongside Mayor Jean-Marc Robitaille announced Monday that they would no longer serve under his banner.
Réal Leclerc, Brigitte Villeneuve, Nathalie Bellavance and Claire Messier will now sit as independents on city council.
Robitaille has been under the microscope for the past few years, but Leclerc said he felt uncomfortable after Quebec's anti-corruption unit (UPAC) raided the mayor's office and home in July in connection with the awarding of public contracts.
"When you know that there are warrants signed off by a judge, etcetera, there could be other things that follow," Leclerc said.
"I don't want to be associated with that."
