Public health officials in Joliette say a measles outbreak that has been hitting the region since January is over.

In total, 159 people were diagnosed, including many children.

The office of Public Health and Social Services for the Lanaudière region said all of them were never vaccinated against the measles.

The outbreak was centred among members of the Mission L'Esprit-Saint religious community.

It began when some members of the community visited Disneyland in California, the epicentre of a major outbreak.
