Dorothy Yeats says it wasn't easy making the transition from being a gymnast to become a wrestler at the age of 14.

Pan Am Games competitor Dorothy Yeats says it wasn't easy making the transition from gymnastics to wrestling at the age of 14.

"The switch from a super girly almost sport that was artistic and you had to be beautiful doing it ... to a sport that with in 10 minutes of practice you're drenched in your own sweat, other people's sweat and you just smell bad because everyone's sweat is on you, you get hit in the face, you leave every practice covered in bruises," Yeats says.

"For the first months it was something I really had to get used to."

Yeats says it was a pact with her father that got her over the hump and turned her into the champion wrestler she is today.
