Dorothy Yeats, Haislan Garcia will lead team
Dorothy Yeats, a two-time world junior champion and 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, will lead Canada's wrestling charges at the Pan Am Games.
Canada announced its wrestling team on Tuesday, which should compete for multiple medals in Toronto. The country's only medallist from the 2014 world championships, Jillian Gallays, is absent from the list, but there is still a host of contenders.
Yeats, who is from Montreal, competes in the 69 kg class and will be one to watch at the Rio Olympics as well.
Haislan Garcia is Canada's top wrestler on the men's side, competing in the 65 kg class. The athlete from Surrey, B.C., was seventh at the London Olympics.
Also on Team Canada for Toronto 2015 include 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallists Korey Jarvis and Tamerlan Tagziev and 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Braxton Stone-Papadopoulos.
The wrestling competition at the Pan Am Games goes from July 15-18 in Mississauga, Ont.
