CBC Charity Drive raises money for NDG Food Depot

This past March, 5,962 children used food aid services in Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, according to Moisson Montreal's annual Hunger Count. Many of those children would have relied on services like the NDG Food Depot.

This past March, 5,962 children used food aid services in Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, according to Moisson Montreal's annual Hunger Count.

Many of those children would have relied on services like the NDG Food Depot.

This year, all proceeds from the annual CBC Montreal Christmas Charity Drive went towards the NDG Food Depot and the various programs and workshops it offers to the community.

The depot, which has been serving the community since 1986, is a non-profit organization that distributes food to thousands of families in NDG, Westmount and Montreal West.

Its emergency food basket program offers basic grocery items such as milk, rice, pasta and fruit twice a month to individuals and families in need.

The depot also runs workshops to educate families about healthy eating and nutrition, such as community gardens and cooking workshops like the Boîte à Lunch program, which offers free classes to children and teenagers.
