Winnipeg Transit drivers and maintenance workers have voted to ratify a new contract.

Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 voted 59.8 per cent in favour of ratifying the settlement on Friday, according to both the union and the city.

The agreement was reached between the union and the city, with the help of a provincially appointed conciliation officer.

The union represents about 1,100 bus drivers and 250 maintenance workers at Winnipeg Transit.

The ATU website says 1,015 members voted on Friday, with 607 in favour of ratifying the contract, 406 against it, and two spoiled ballots.

The city says the offer of settlement must still be ratified by council.

A number of bus routes were affected by delays and cancellations due to job action in May, when the union implemented a ban on voluntary overtime.

The city says Winnipeg Transit successfully restored full service earlier this week.
