Death of woman found badly injured near Portage Place being investigated as homicide

The death of a 28-year-old woman, who was found with life-threatening injuries in downtown Winnipeg on Thursday afternoon and later died in hospital, is being investigated as a homicide.

The death of a 28-year-old Winnipeg  woman, who was found with life-threatening injuries in the city's downtown on Thursday afternoon and later died, is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were called to the 100 block of The Promenade — the thoroughfare just north of Portage Place mall — shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday with a report of an unresponsive woman.

They found her suffering from life-threatening injuries and provided medical treatment. She was taken to hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead there, police said in a Saturday news release.

She has been identified as Briannah Clowes, 28. Her family has been notified, police said.
