2nd inmate dies in Manitoba prison this week
A second inmate at Stony Mountain Institution north of Winnipeg has died this week. Shane Kruchak, 50, died Thursday, the Correctional Service of Canada said in a news release on Friday.

A second inmate at Stony Mountain Institution north of Winnipeg has died this week.
Shane Kruchak, 50, died Thursday, the Correctional Service of Canada said in a news release Friday.
Kruchak had been serving a sentence of two years, six months and 18 days since Dec. 4, 2024. The release did not say what he had been convicted of or how he died.
Kruchak's next-of-kin have been notified.
On Monday, Michael McKay, 54, also died in custody. McKay had been serving a sentence of six years, one month and 11 days since Dec. 10, 2020.
The Correctional Service of Canada says it will review the circumstances involving the death of the inmate and notify police and a coroner as per policy.
