Silver $20 coin features portrait of Prince William, Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte

Fans of the Royal Family can commemorate the current visit with a new collector coin from The Royal Canadian Mint.

The Winnipeg-based mint has produced a colourful $20 coin to mark the Canadian visit by their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 1, who is on her first royal tour.

The royal tour is taking place in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory until Oct. 1, 2016.

"The Government of Canada is thrilled that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on their second visit to Canada and we are especially delighted that Prince George and Princess Charlotte could join them," Finance Minister Bill Morneau said in a news release.

"The pride of Canadians in this historic moment will be permanently reflected in the silver coin that the Royal Canadian Mint has finely crafted to mark this occasion."

The coin features a full-colour reproduction of photographer Chris Jelf's portrait of the family, framed by an outer rim that has four engraved maple leaves to represent each member of the family.

The 99.99 per cent pure silver coin sells for $109.95 and is limited to a run of 10,000.

It can be ordered by contacting the mint at 1-800-267-1871 in Canada, 1-800-268-6468 in the U.S. or online through the mint's website.
