The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed to Kelowna, B.C., today for a public event at UBC's Okanagan campus, and then a private wine tasting at a local vineyard.

Prince William and Kate will spend most of their day in Premier Christy Clark's riding in Kelowna, before heading to Yukon in the evening.

They're making two stops during their short stay in Kelowna, but their 2:10 p.m. visit to the Mission Hill Winery is not open to the general public.

Welcoming crowd at UBC

Their first stop was a public event at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus earlier in the afternoon, where a large crowd awaited their arrival.

After presiding over the dedication of a plaque marking the 10th anniversary of the school, the royal couple viewed a large piece of Indigenous art commissioned to honour the partnership between the university and the Okanagan Nation Alliance.

They watched a volleyball match in the school's gym before heading off to a private event at the Mission Hill winery.

William and Kate will fly to Whitehorse later in the afternoon, where they will meet the public at the airport at 6:10 p.m. PT.

They will spend Wednesday in Yukon before returning to Victoria later in the day.
