Man dies in custody at Winnipeg Remand Centre
Manitoba Corrections launch internal review into man’s death
Manitoba Corrections is investigating after a man died in the Winnipeg Remand Centre on Wednesday.
The man died while in custody at the centre this morning, according to provincial officials.
An internal review is now underway at Manitoba Corrections, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been notified.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has also been notified about the incident. The unit investigates serious incidents involving police officers in the province.
Provincial officials say Winnipeg police contacted them.
Officials said they could not release the man's identity due to privacy reasons.
The death comes amid calls for an inquest into the death of Errol Greene.
Greene died after being taken into custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre earlier this year. His family says Greene was epileptic and didn't have access to his medication for days.

In August, his wife called for an inquest into his death, saying details about what happened were scarce, and it wasn't clear if Greene died in the centre or hours later in hospital.
