Man charged with attempted murder after RCMP officer shot
A 48-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a Manitoba RCMP officer.
The man is charged with two counts of attempt murder, two counts of uttering threats to kill, two counts of assault, and two firearms-related offences.
The officer, whose injuries are non-life-threatening, is recovering and has been released from hospital.
The shooting happened in the evening of May 15, shortly after officers responded to an assault complaint at a residence in the community of Kemnay, about 10 kilometres west of Brandon.
When the officers arrived, at about 6:30 p.m., the 48 year old threatened them and shot at them, hitting one, RCMP said.
The investigation, led by the RCMP's major crime services, is ongoing and no other information is available.
