Looking for seats in MTS Centre during playoffs, no spring picnic
Winnipeg Jets management estimates there will be less than 1,000 tickets available for playoff action
Tickets for Winnipeg Jets playoff games will be made available April 14.
Tickets for game thee and four in round one at the MTS Centre go on sale at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and can be purchased here.
If a sixth game is necessary to determine the winner of the Western Conference quarterfinal, tickets will be made available once the game is confirmed.
According to the Jets' website season tickets holders will pay between $62.63 and $207.98 for a ticket. Non-season ticket holders will pay between between $97.13 and $322.50.
A 50% markup
Scott Brown, Senior Director of Corporate Communications at True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd., explained that standard ticket prices would be marked up for the playoffs. In round one, the seat cost will be boosted by 50% from the regular season — and the hike will increase should the Jets move past round one.
"About 94 per cent of our season ticket holders indicated that they wanted their seats for the playoffs," says Brown. "So we're talking a limited number of seats."
Brown estimates that there will be less than 1,000 tickets available to the public per game.
Brown said that some tickets are required to be held as reserves under NHL playoff regulations but if they are not needed, they will be made available first to those on the season seat waiting list and then to the public on game day at the Jets ticket site and at the MTS Centre box office.
Buyer beware
Fans should be aware that there will be a limit of four tickets per buyer come April 14.
"It's one of the things that we are implementing to prevent the secondary seller from getting his hands on a number of tickets and then going to someplace like Kijiji or StubHub and selling them for an incredibly marked-up price," Brown says.
"There are two or three other [things we're doing]. I don't really want to really get into to kind of protect ourselves."
Tickets for Winnipeg Jets playoff games are already being auctioned off on unendorsed ticket-resale websites like StubHub for as much as $2,500.
Brown reminds fans that buying and selling tickets for greater than face value is illegal.
Brown advises implores fans not to be duped into buying fraudulent tickets, "I can tell you those tickets are fraudulent. We have not put a single seat or ticket on sale yet for a Winnipeg Jets playoff game, yet there are people out there claiming that they have tickets they are willing to sell. So those are the types of things people need to be weary of."
The Ticketmaster and Jets SeatExchange sites are the only places Brown says guarantee legitimate ticket sales.
In terms of what fans could expect as far as special merchandise, Brown said, "There may be some other items fans may see at the games here in Winnipeg but we'll keep those close to our vest as a game surprise for fans."
