Woman carjacked, run over in downtown Winnipeg

A 45-year-old woman was robbed of her vehicle and then run over as the carjacker sped away, Winnipeg police say.

A 45-year-old woman was robbed of her vehicle and then run over as the carjacker sped away, Winnipeg police say.

The woman was in a parking lot near the intersection of York Avenue and Carlton Street, near the RBC Convention Centre, when she was carjacked around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.

During the ensuing altercation, she was run over by her own vehicle as the carjacker fled. She suffered significant injuries and was transported to hospital in unstable condition. Her condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Her stolen Toyota Tundra was later recovered by police in the city's Elmwood area.

No arrests have yet been made.
