Assiniboine Park Zoo, The Leaf's biomes to close for maintenance in January
Zoo to close for nearly 2 weeks starting Monday, conservancy says
The Assiniboine Park Zoo and parts of its horticultural attraction will close for almost two weeks in January.
The zoo will close for annual maintenance from Jan. 6 to 17, a news release said Friday. All visitor services, including retail and concession, will close during that time as well.
The work includes painting, deep cleaning in buildings throughout the zoo, minor repairs and removing light displays.
The zoo is open the weekend before the closure and will resume regular daytime hours of operation on Jan. 18.
Biomes at The Leaf will close for display changes and garden maintenance from Jan. 13 to 15, as well as Jan. 27 to 29. Visitors have until Jan. 12 to see the current display.
A new display of 15 floral mannequins created by local designers and inspired by Manitoba's arts and culture scene will be set up during the closure. It will run from Jan. 16 to 26.
The biomes will reopen on Jan. 30 with a new wintry display of orchids, with regular hours of operation.
