Woman's body pulled out of the Thames River in London, Ont.

London police recovered the body of a woman from the Thames River near Ivey Park on Wednesday afternoon. Police say the death is not suspicious in nature.

Police recovered the body of a woman from the Thames River in downtown London, Ont., on Wednesday afternoon. 

Emergency crews were called to the river near Ivey Park at around 12:30 p.m. after a citizen phoned 9-1-1 reporting what appeared to be a body in the water.

"Upon police arrival, an individual was located, and it was determined that the individual was deceased," said Const. Sandasha Bough.

In an update on Thursday, police identified the body to be that of a woman. Police say the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The death is not believed to be suspicious, according to police.

The Major Crime Section is continuing the investigation and assisting the Chief Coroner.
