An individual from Tillsonburg is facing charges as Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate allegations of fraud at a Norwich retirement home, east of London.

Police first heard reports of fraud in connection with the retirement home in August 2024. CBC News has yet to confirm the name of the retirement home.

The initial investigation found there were multiple fraud victims with an estimated loss of more than $50,000. However, the amount is now estimated to be more than $190,000.

A 50-year-old has been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000. Their name is not being released out of concern for their well-being, police said.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before an Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing. Oxford OPP are asking the public to contact them if they suspect someone they know may be a victim of the fraud.
