Should London follow in Quebec's footsteps with a vaccine passport system?
We spoke to people at Victoria Park to hear their thoughts.
A vaccine passport system will begin in Quebec on September 1st. Vaccination will need to be proven through a QR code for people to enjoy nonessentials like bars or concerts, and an app called VaxiCode was released this week to help them pull it off.
So, should we adbopt the same sort of system here?
CBC went to Victoria Park in London to hear what people think.
Zainab Mosawi
Mosawi believes that a system like this should be introduced in London and Ontario at large. She's vaccinated and said that it's "scary" to be around those who aren't. "The only thing is that a lot of people won't want to cooperate," she said, "and that's just the hardest thing, to be honest."
Jorge Munoz
Munoz, from Toronto, would like to see a vaccine pass system in Ontario and has no concerns about it. He is fully vaccinated but said, "I wasn't too happy in the beginning because I had Pfizer and I was waiting for Pfizer and it wasn't available. So, I had to go for Moderna. But anyway, I took Moderna and I think it's the same thing at the end of the day."
Jan Hill
Hill, who is unvaccinated, doesn't like the idea of a vaccine pass system. He believes that it's "pitting us against each other because they're already showing numbers of the cases and then how many aren't vaccinated."
"So they're really hitting the unvaccinated hard with that, you know, so I think the people are looking down on us and it's just not fair," he said
Janine Devree and Kyera Hodgins
Both Devree and Hodgins think that a vaccine pass system is a good idea, however, Devree believes that "there has to be some sort of measures in place for those people who can't get vaccinated for medical reasons. We don't want to make them feel isolated because of it."
