People in London, Ont., will be able to stop by six LCBO locations for a COVID-19 take-home rapid test kit as they become available within the next few days.

CBC London spoke to all local retailers Thursday evening and they said they expected supplies to arrive Friday or into the weekend. None had received a shipment of tests from the province at the time of the call.

"We expect stores will receive supplies today," LCBO said in a Tweet on Friday, "but cannot confirm arrival times at each location and do expect our limited supply to go quickly."

Premier Doug Ford announced earlier in the week that the liquor stores would provide free rapid antigen tests as part of a holiday testing blitz to reduce transmission of the virus.

Two million rapid tests will also be available at pop-up testing sites in malls, retail settings, holiday markets, public libraries and transit hubs across Ontario into January.

"While vaccination remains the best way to protect against COVID-19, testing remains a key part of our pandemic response by detecting cases earlier and providing an additional layer of safety," said Christine Elliott, deputy premier and minister of health.

"As we head into the colder months, we are enhancing our testing strategy to ensure that every Ontarian, regardless of where they live, can access testing closer to home when they need it and get a test result as quickly as possible."

The LCBO said kits are limited in quantity and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The province's online pop-up holiday schedule for rapid antigen tests will be updated weekly as locations are confirmed with municipalities.
