London police are searching for suspects after a week-long vandalism spree left the glass smashed out of 26 bus shelters across the city.

The destruction started last Friday when 16 shelters were reported to have been hit. Since then, another 10 shelters have been destroyed, according to the London Transit Commission (LTC).

"These acts of senseless vandalism are extremely frustrating, and unfortunately, it is our riders that suffer as they are left to stand in the elements waiting for the bus when a shelter has been damaged," said Kelly Paleczny, the general manager for the LTC.

"We would encourage anyone with any information with respect to these acts of vandalism contact the police."

Paleczny said it costs about $2,500 to replace the glass in a single bus shelter, with the total damage upwards of $65,000.

The locations of the vandalized bus shelters are spread out across the city, including the areas of downtown, east London and south London.

Police said they have yet to identify any suspects and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest.

Anyone with information is being asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
