City officials unveiled the city's newest park this week on the grounds of the former Lorne Avenue Public School in Old East Village.
The park pays tribute to the former school with the original bell that sounded the beginning of class in the original Victorian building. It also features the lettering taken from the facade of the modern building before it was torn down in 2016.
Officials said they hurried the opening of the new green space to provide outdoor space for neighbourhood children to play, who are sheltering at home and no longer in class, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
