Three employees at the Walmart Supercentre in London's Hyde Park have tested positive for COVID-19, officials with the store say.

The employees of the store, located at 1280 Fanshawe Park Rd. W.,  last worked on Sept. 6, Sept. 13 and Sept. 15, a spokesperson said after questions from CBC News.

"We're keeping the associates in our thoughts and wish them a continued speedy recovery," said Adam Grachnik, Walmart's director of corporate affairs.

"Out of an abundance of caution, associates identified as being in close contact have been directed to self-isolate."

The Middlesex London Health Unit has worked with those who had close contact with the employees to make sure they're aware of the potential risk and to monitor for symptoms, said Chris Mackie, the region's medical officer of health.

"There was no contact with the public or contamination of any food materials or anything like that," Mackie said about the Walmart employees, deeming it a low risk to the public.

The store recently conducted a deep cleaning of the store, Grachnik said.

"Safety continues to be a top priority at Walmart. Rest assured, we will continue to take measures to support the well-being of our customers and associates."

Walmart checks the temperature of all employees at the start of each shift, encourages regular handwashing and regularly cleans work areas, including checkouts, Grachnik said.

There is increased cleaning throughout the store, he added.
