Fanshawe College postpones spring convocation due to COVID-19
Convocation ceremonies will take place in the fall of 2020.
Fanshawe College announced Monday that all spring convocation ceremonies originally scheduled from June 9 to 11 will now take place at a future date in the fall.
The postponement is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a written news release from the college.
There are more than 40,000 full- and part-time students who attend the school.
"We know this will be a disappointment to our graduating students," said Michele Beaudoin, vice president of Student Services for the college.
"They have persevered through a very difficult time to complete their studies under extraordinary circumstances and we are extremely proud of their accomplishments."
Students will still receive their credentials this spring.
Fanshawe closed its doors to students on March 17. Most of the college's courses went to an online platform on March 23.
Western University announced Thursday that its spring convocation ceremonies will also be moved to a future date in the fall.
