Former Woodstock mayor Trevor Birtch will learn his sentence later this fall in the first of two sexual assault cases that have landed him before a judge.

Birtch, 49, was convicted in August of assault and sexual assault relating to charges brought on by a woman he was dating in 2020.

This week, the former mayor was in court again on three separate charges of sexual assault involving a different woman with whom he had a five-year relationship starting in 2017.

In both cases, including this recent trial, Birtch pleaded not guilty.

This week, the court heard from Birtch, who denied allegations that he assaulted the woman. The names of all of the victims are protected by a court order.

Birtch will be sentenced by Superior Court Justice Michael Carnegie in the first case on Nov. 18.

The second case, being heard by Superior Court Justice Spencer Nicholson, resumes on Sept. 20.
