Dr. Chris Mackie steps back from role as Medical Officer of Health

The Medical Officer of Health for the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is stepping away from his duties on a leave of absence.
The Middlesex-London Board of Health announced Monday that Dr. Chris Mackie will be away for an undetermined amount of time.
Dr. Alex Summers, the health region's Associate Medical Officer of Health, is replacing Mackie. Summers has been appointed to the role of Acting Medical Officer of Health in Mackie's absence.
There are no further details provided from the board.
Mackie has been the Medical Officer of Health and former Chief Executive Officer for over eight years at the MLHU. He has led the city through the pandemic until now, speaking publicly on a near daily basis and actively engaging with the community on social media.
