1 new case in London area Tuesday linked to long-term care staff

The Middlesex London Health Unit reported one new case of COVID-19 across the region Tuesday, said to be a staff member at a long-term care home. There were no deaths reported.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported one new case of COVID-19 Tuesday, linked to a staff member at a long-term care home.

There were 700 tests processed at London assessment centres on Monday, bringing the local total to 24,733.

There hasn't been a death reported in Middlesex-London since June 12. The death toll stands at 57.

The local total is now at 626 COVID-19 cases in the region, with 90 per cent considered resolved, according to data from the MLHU.

Local assessment centres remain open on Canada Day

The MLHU announce the Carling Heights and Oakridge assessment centres will be open on July 1.

The health unit says anyone may attend either of the two centres to be assessed for COVID-
19 testing.

Testing is also available for those requiring test results before visiting loved ones who are living in a long-term care or retirement residence.

COVID-19 across the region and beyond

Southwestern Public Health, which covers St. Thomas and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported no new case of COVID-19 Tuesday. The regional total stands at 83 cases, with two active cases.

Meanwhile, Ontario reported 57 additional cases of COVID-19 Tuesday morning, following a surge on Monday following another outbreak among migrant workers.

Across Canada, there have been 104,144 confirmed and presumptive coronavirus cases.
