London police are investigating an early morning shooting that damaged a new Dundas Street cannabis shop but saw no one injured.

Police said a security guard patrolling the area between Wellington and Clarence heard gun shots at approximately 3 a.m., then found bullet holes in the glass door at the rear of the shop.

The Indigenous-owned store was only a few months old, and it's not clear if it had even officially opened.

On Monday morning, police detectives were canvasing the block asking other business owners for surveillance video. They said in a statement that the Guns and Gangs unit would be taking over the investigation.

Business owners in the area said they had been contacted by police, who asked for video surveillance footage for their investigation. People who live in apartments in the same block as the site of the shooting told CBC News that they heard loud pops just after 3:00 a.m.

Locals said the rear door of the shop appeared to be used as the primary entrance on a day-to-day basis.

They're asking anyone with information to contact them, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers. Police specifically want to talk to anyone with a dash-cam, or who may have seen something between 2:45 and 3:45 a.m. in the area.
