Mother's son survives the crash
A mother and daughter are dead following a two vehicle collision Tuesday on Highway 401 near Dutton, west of London.
Elgin County OPP said a pick-up truck heading east crossed the centre median and struck a westbound van.
Two people in the van, 42-year-old Sarah Payne and her five-year-old daughter, Freya Payne of London, died of their injuries.
The woman's six-year-old son, William Payne, and the driver of the pick-up truck, a 56-year-old Cambridge man, were reported in stable condition.
Police said charges are pending.
Highway 401 between Iona Road and Currie Road had been closed because of the crash but it was re-opened at around 11 p.m.
