Guelph Storm to kick off championship series against Ottawa Thursday

The Guelph Storm are set to face off against the Ottawa 67's in the Ontario Hockey League championships on Thursday.

The two teams will be battling it out for the J. Ross Robertson Cup.

The Storm beat the Saginaw Spirit to make it to the championships, coming from behind in the series after being down two games and eventually winning in Game 7.

The Storm also came back to win four straight games after being behind 3-0 in their series against the London Knights.

67s

The Ottawa 67s were named the Eastern Conference champions after an overtime win against the Oshawa Generals in Game 4, sweeping the series.

Here's the schedule for the Guelph Storm vs. Ottawa 67s series:

  • Game 1 is Thursday at 7 p.m. in Ottawa.
  • Game 2 is Saturday at 2 p.m. in Ottawa.
  • Game 3 is Monday at 7 p.m. in Guelph.
  • Game 4 is Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in Guelph.
  • Game 5, if needed, is Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. in Ottawa.
  • Game 6, if needed, is Sunday, May 12 at 2 p.m. in Guelph.
  • Game 7, if needed, is Monday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in Ottawa.

Guelph previously won the OHL championship in 2014, while the 67s haven't been in the final round of the playoffs since 2005 and last won the cup in 2001.

The winners of the OHL championship will move on to the Memorial Cup, which takes place May 16 to 26 and will include host team, the Halifax Mooseheads, along with the champions from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League.
